Donald J. "DJ" or “Donnie” Cadden, 84, of Cocoa, Florida entered into rest on Monday, October 16, 2023. DJ was born in Augusta, Georgia, and went on to serve in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea and served as a drill sergeant at Ft. Benning, GA, a hallmark of his personality.
After his time in the service, Sgt Cadden became a Journeyman Welder and a member of Southern Ironworker Local 709. He worked on several major projects including Plant Vogtle and Savannah River Site.
In retirement, Donnie resided at Clarks Hill Lake in Lincolnton where he became an award-winning fisherman, and frequented the Soap Creek Lodge where his beloved wife Shirley worked.
In 2005 DJ moved from Lincolnton to reside in Cocoa, Florida. He was well-known and enjoyed playing poker at Club 52 in Melbourne. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his fierce independence, strong will, warm smile, and, of course, his impeccable hair.
Mr. Cadden will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Shirley Ann Cadden at West View Cemetery in Augusta, Georgia on November 18, 2023 at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Fisher House Foundation (fisherhouse.org).
