Donald M. Stewart

Donald Marvin Stewart, 80, of Melbourne, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Melbourne Terrace Nursing Home. He was a retired Communications Engineer with Kennedy Space Center, a Korean War Army Veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Originally from the Bronx, New York, Donald came to Titusville, FL in 1967. He relocated to Ashland City, Tennessee in the late 90's, but returned to Melbourne in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending church, and participating in the activities at the various care facilities where he lived. He loved to reminisce about the "old days" in New York, and most recently, was working on his "bucket list" of things he wanted to do in the future. Donald is survived by his children, Ellen Fleishman of Brooklyn, New York, Laura McLane and her husband, Michael of Roswell, Georgia, Jeffrey Stewart and his wife, Maureen of Brandon, Florida, and Jacqueline McManus of Melbourne, Florida. Donald is also survived by his brother, Henry Schilowitz of Orlando, Florida, and five grandchildren, Joshua Fleishman, Ross McLane, and Ashley, Courtney, and Albert McManus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Rose Schilowitz, and second wife, Anna Stewart. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, 5950 S. US Highway 1, Rockledge. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Calvary Chapel of Viera, 2852 Fellowship Place, Viera, FL 32940. An additional viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Following the service, Mr. Stewart will be laid to rest at Florida Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Melbourne Terrace Nursing Home (Residents fund), 251 Florida Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32901, or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.shrinershq.org. The family would like also to thank the staff at Melbourne Terrace Nursing Home for the loving care which they gave to Donald during his recent stay there.
