Dorothy Evelynn McFarland

Dorothy was born on August 26, 1925 in Iowa City, Iowa to Leroy Harry Crawford and Ella Lillian Mrstik, and had 6 brothers and 3 sisters. After many hardships during the Great Depression, she worked as a nurse’s aide at the University of Iowa Hospital. On August 5, 1948, she began her marriage with John; their love and commitment to each other grew each day and transcends their 61 years together on earth. Dorothy was also totally devoted to her son and his family, and her feisty but always loving personality will be missed by them and her many friends.

Dorothy is survived by her son David (JoAnn) of Merritt Island; granddaughters, Heather and Holly; her brother, Duane (Linda); and sister Delores, both of Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank her caregivers at Consulate Health Center and especially their friend Linda Johnson for her extraordinary efforts in caring for John and Dorothy in their final years.

Viewing will be at Florida Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 2-3pm, with services and internment at 3:00pm. Donations should be made to Eau Gallie First Baptist Church Building Fund or ASPCA.
