

Ed is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 67 years, Betty Day Bostic Carter, his sons: Stephen E. (Darla) Carter and David M. Carter, his daughter: Laura L. (Harold) Carter Paul, as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Ed was well loved and respected and will be missed by all.
Ed joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952 and served honorably during the Korean conflict as a communications specialist. After leaving the Marines in 1956, Ed earned a degree in Forestry from Mississippi State University and a second degree in Entomology from Auburn University.
Ed was hired by Standard Oil, Chevron Chemical Division, performing research, quality contract and sales for Ortho products. During his time working for Chevron he was stationed at offices in Orlando, San Francisco and Houston traveling extensively throughout the United States. He was then posted at their Sydney, Australia offices where he traveled in the Asian Pacific area, including Indonesia, China, and New Zealand.
Upon returning to Orlando Ed and Betty bought their first sailboat, which they kept at the Diamond 99 Marina in Melbourne and then purchased the marina in 1978. After 27 years of running the marina, Ed and Betty were ready to retire and spent 5 years in The Villages before returning to Brevard County where they made their home in Cocoa Beach.
Ed was a member of the V.F.W. and the Lions Club.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US HWY 1, Rockledge, FL 32955 with the visitation from 11:00 am until the service hour. Interment is to follow immediately. All are invited to a reception afterward and encouraged to share their memories of Ed.
