

Floyd Eric Okerlind of Rockledge, Florida passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the age of 80, after several months of declining health. Floyd died peacefully where he had been living at the Palm Cottage Memory Care facility.
Born in Orlando, Florida on October 10, 1941, he grew up in Florida, picking oranges to pay for college. Floyd earned a BSPE in 1963 and a MED in math from the University of Florida in 1969. He taught geometry and algebra at Rockledge High School, where he also coached several sports and held the title of Head Coach to the varsity football team at one time.
Floyd met his wife, Laurel, on a blind date in 1965, they married 12 weeks later. He retired and lived out the rest of his time traveling the world with his wife. Some of his hobbies included fishing, stained glass work, hiking, camping and watching college football. Most summers, Floyd took his family on cross country road trips, sharing the love of travel and outdoors with his wife and son.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gust Okerlind; mother, Wallen Okerlind; brother, Richard and wife, Laurel Okerlind. He is survived by his son, Eric Okerlind (Nicole); grand daughter, Kaleea (Josh Garner) and sister in law, Arden Larsen.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 10, 2022 starting with a 1:30pm Visitation at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida.
Floyd will be laid to rest in Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 South US Hwy 1, Rockledge, Florida.
