

She was born Sept- ember 10, 1924 in Waco, TX, one of ten children born to Claribel and Douglas Brown.
Geraldine married Dan Thompson (deceased) on March 10, 1945.
In 1954, she participated in open heart surgery as a donor in a cross circulation experimental operation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Her eight year old daughter, Leslie Ann, had been born with a heart defect, and her participation in the cutting edge research was done with the intention of extending the life of her seriously ill daughter. The operation was unsuccessful. As a result Geraldine lived the remainder of her life severely disabled requiring long term institutional care. In 1960, at age 13, Leslie Ann died from the heart defect.
Geraldine is survived by two brothers, Bill and Bland Brown, and a sister, Barbara Brown Hitt, all of Waco, TX. She leaves two sons, John Phillip Thompson of Chandler, AZ and Dan Fox Thompson, Jr. of Rockledge, FL; and a daughter, Gay Thompson Withers of Melbourne FL.
Geraldine will be remembered a mass at St. Lewis Catholic Church, Waco, TX.
Donations may be made in her name to Vitas Hospice, who assisted in her transition, or to your favorite charity .
Services are private and internment will be at Florida Memorial Cemetery, Rockledge, FL.
