

Glenys Louise Thompson Holms, 83, a long time resident of Satellite Beach, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne. Mrs. Holms, a homemaker, was the founder of the Satellite Beach Women's Club. She was also an active volunteer for local swim teams, DeLaura Junior High and Satellite High School bands, and the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the Satellite Beach Recreation Department exercise class, Womens Club, and Red Hats. She volunteered at Alterra Clare Bridge, a residential facility for Alzheimers and dementia patients in West Melbourne. Mrs. Holms was born in Pittsfield, MA and attended Green Mountain Junior College in Vermont and Springfield College in Massachusetts. She was a long time member of the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. Survivors include sons, Donald E. Holms of Glendale, AZ and Bruce A. Holms of Redlands, CA; daughters, Heather A. Stook of Cocoa Beach and Laurel J. Culbreth of Wesley Chapel, FL; granddaughters, Christie A. Summers of Seattle, WA, Michelle M. Chamlee of Tampa, FL, Danielle J. Cowles of Seattle, WA, Lindsay M. Lucado of Kirksville, MO, and Marissa L. Culbreth of Wesley Chapel, FL; and grandson, Evan T. Culbreth of Wesley Chapel, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Cooper Chamlee and Hazel Summers. Mrs. Holms was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Walter E. Holms; her parents,
Reginald and Marjorie Thompson; her sister, Lynn; and brother, Berle. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm, at the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
