Gloria Ann Mitchell

Gloria will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her sons, Philip Mitchell (Rebecca) Federal Way, WA, and Mark Mitchell (Karen) Oviedo, FL. Beloved and dedicated “Nanny” to her grandchildren, Holly Nance (Paul), Daimy Mitchell and Brenden Mitchell. Sister-in-law to Francis Kilgore and Merrilyn Stamp (Richard)and nephew, Jeff Kilgore of Guyton, GA and niece, Amy Kilgore of Sylva, NC. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, she was predeceased by her parents, Walter & Lady Kilgore; husband, Jewell Mitchell; son, Lonnie Mitchell and brother, William Kilgore.

Gloria was born to Walter & Lady Kilgore on their farm in Parrottsville, TN on October 24, 1937. She received her RN degree at UT and St Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN. She met her husband Jewell Mitchell while in nursing school in Knoxville, TN. They married and moved to Satellite Beach, FL in 1965, they were married for almost 60 years before his passing in 2017. While in Florida she worked for many years at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge.

She loved spending time with her family. One of her proudest family moments was the birth of her beautiful grandchildren, she loved spending time with them whenever possible, as Holly lived close, she got to be at all her special moments including her wedding. She loved traveling to new places, making puzzles, doing crosswords, visiting with family, and spending fun times with her friends. Gloria was a devoted and active member of the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving the Lord and her community. Over the years, she volunteered for many community, church, and school activities, including being a Sunday School teacher, UM Women’s Group leader, Military Care Package coordinator, Elderly shut-in outreach volunteer, Scout Den Mother, SBHS Band Parent and School Nurse, just to name a few.

Services for Gloria will be on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Satellite Beach United Methodist Church (450 Lee Ave, Satellite Beach, FL 32937). Public viewing will be at 10:30 am. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow. Burial to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens (5950 South US Hwy 1, Rockledge, FL 32955).

In lieu of flowers, any memorials may be made to Satellite Beach United Methodist Church (Community Outreach Center project) or Florida United Methodist Children's Home.
