Gwendolyn Faye Russell Lane

Faye Lane went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 5, 2012 after a lengthy illness. She was born February 4, 1949 in Laurinburg, NC to Mamie Doris Oates Russell and Marshall Lewis Russell, Sr. (both deceased).

Faye was transferred to Florida from Denver, CO in 1987. She was employed for 33 years by the Department of the Air Force and retired from AFTAC at Patrick, AFB in January 2008. Faye's many interests included reading and travel. She was a military spouse and for 20 years, accompanied her husband to many interesting places. After retirement, they continued to travel when possible.

Survivors include Alford L. Lane, her loving husband of 46 years; her daughter, Tamela Rimmer of Melbourne, FL; her son, Robert Lane of Mesquite, TX; granddaughters, Cheri Lorenz of Rockledge, FL, Misty Lane, and Kendall Lane of Mesquite, TX; grandsons, Brett Shewell of Merritt Island, FL, and Bentley Lane of Mesquite, TX; great-granddaughters, Breaunnah Lorenz, Brookelynn Lorenz, and Hailey Lorenz of Rockledge, FL; sisters, Constance Durrett of Columbia, SC, Victoria Brown of Laurinburg, NC, and Jeannie Russell of Marston, NC; brothers, John Russell of Maxton, NC, Charles Russell of Salley, SC, Marshall Russell, Jr of Laurinburg, NC, and Dale Russell of Laurinburg, NC; aunts, Claire McNeil of Florence, SC, Katie Sheppard of Laurinburg, NC, and Lois Wagner of E. Laurinburg, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and her precious kitten, Molly.

Faye was preceded in death by her twin brother, Glenn Raymond Russell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lung Transplant Program (checks payable), Attn: Wendy Swafford, PO Box 100223, Gainesville, FL 32610. The fund is to help lung transplant patients with expenses related to transplant.

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Florida Memorial Garden Funeral Home in Rockledge, FL from 2-3 PM with services to follow at 3 PM.
