

He began his life’s journey in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 16, 1916. James served his country during World War II, The Korean War, and The Vietnam war as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army. He served in the Army for 29 years and received many accommodations and awards during his military career. Most recently, at age 98, he received the Governor’s Veterans Service Award from Governor Rick Scott. At age 100 he received the Congressional Gold Medal from Congressman Bill Posey. James continued his lifelong service to God as the minister of The United Church of Christ located in Melbourne, Florida for many years as well as interim minister for other UCC churches in the state of Florida. He has touched many lives during his ministry. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, The Retired Officers Association, The Canaveral Mineral and Gem Society, The Good Sam Club.
He is survived by daughters Virginia Macintosh, Joan Allan, and Janice Gran; grandchildren Jennifer Sindora, Cody Gran, and Amber Allan; and great-grandchildren Olivia McKay and Chase Gran.
He is predeceased by his wife Edna Allan, son Thomas Allan, and granddaughter Stacy Gran.
Friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4th at Riviera United Church of Christ, 451 Riviera Dr. NE, Palm Bay. Donations may be made in his name to Habitat for Humanity and/or for Alzheimer’s Research.
The family and Friends of James B. Allan will forever be influenced by his love and devotion and will miss his presence.
