

Born May 16, 1927 in Salt Creek, Wyoming, he was the son of the late James Monroe and Emily Edith Morton Holder. His mother was 102 when she passed away. He married Maria Luisa Rivera Garcia in October, 1983, in New York City.
James served in the U.S. Army for several years. He also worked as a chef in NYC. He moved to Brevard County, FL in 1994 with his wife, Maria, where he spent his retirement during the winters and worked as a chef at Yellowstone National Park in the summers. His wife and family were the love of his life.
James was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Maria Rivera Holder; his father James Monroe Holder; his mother, Emily Morton Holder; a brother, William Edgar Holder; brother Lloyd Holder; brother Richael(Dick) Monroe Holder; sister, Evelyn Jane Holder and sister, Elaine Holder.
He is survived by his step son, George A. Mercado and his wife, Jerrilyn, of Elyria, OH; three grandchildren-- David (Samantha) Mercado; Stephanie Mercado and Michael Mercado and three great grandchildren – Ava Mercado, Elise Mercado and Jackson Mercado.
