Jo Ann Blubaugh cherished Mom, Sister, Grandmother & teacher left her earthly home to join the love of her life and beloved son at her Heavenly home on October 28, 2023 at 95 years old. Our hearts were not ready to let her go, but we rejoice in the comfort of knowing she is wrapped in the arms of Jesus.
Jo Ann was born on July 7, 1928 in Kamoor, West Virginia. She graduated from South Charleston High School and furthered her education at Virginia Intermont College and the University of Kentucky.
Her love story began on July 17, 1950 with Robert Blubaugh. They left West Virginia and made their home in Brevard County in 1956. They raised 5 beautiful children, whom they loved dearly. Jo Ann was an incredibly dedicated teacher and taught in the school system for 27 years. One of her many achievements throughout her career as a teacher was heading up the Title 1 Program at Pineda Elementary/ (Endeavor Elementary). The lives she touched while teaching are uncountable. She was a member of King Street Baptist church, Grace Fellowship and many other community organizations. Her heart for her community was exuded through all of her work.
Jo Ann was the epitome of grace, compassion, strength and beauty. Anyone who was blessed enough to know her and love her fully understood what it was like to be unconditionally loved. Her love for those around her was unparalleled.
While she wore many titles throughout her life, she approached each with such passion. It was important to her that whatever she did, she did it to the very best of her ability. She encouraged us all to do the same.
There was nothing so insurmountable that her Faith couldn't overcome, and because of her Faith it strengthened those around her. Her passion for Jesus ignited an unexplainable hope and longing for others to know more about him.
Our prayer for you is that you feel the same depth of love that our family has been blessed to feel because of the love she bestowed upon us. There are no words that fully emulate how much she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Robert Blubaugh, son Bobby Blubaugh and brother John Rhodes Jr.
Survivors include her Daughter, Sharon (Huey) Cox, Michael (Beth) Blubaugh, Lee (Suzzane) Blubaugh, John Blubaugh; Sister, Linda (Mike) Hampton; Grandchildren, Ryan Cox, Heidi Lawson, Brittney Abernathy, Ashley Mayer, Robbie Blubaugh, Ryan Cotney and Erika Cotney; as well as Great-Grandchildren, Madison Lawson, Avery Lawson, Gage Oakey, Garrett Cox, Slade Cox, JoJo Abernathy, Elijah Abernathy, Logan Cotney, Raven Cotney, and Joshua Cotney.
