She will be remembered by her sons, Wilson Jr. (Beth), Richard, and Andrew. Beloved grandmother to Matthew (Kathryn), Gregory (Shaun), Brian (Kiko), Joe (Jillian), Trisha (Ronnie), Tracy, Julie, Paul (Sheena), and David. Julie was dearly loved by 12 great-grandchildren, 7 nephews and 11 nieces. Pre-deceased by her husband Wilson, their son Jim, loving parents Herbert and Gabrielle Cartwright, sisters Virginia, Annette, and Celeste.
Julie was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and graduated from St. Anne’s school where she was senior class vice president. She graduated from Palm Beach Junior College. She married Wilson in San Diego, where he was stationed in the Navy. Julie was a Den Mother to many rowdy Cub Scouts in Palm Springs, Florida.
The family moved to Brevard County in 1962 when Wilson went to work for NASA. Julie was a long-time active member of St. Mary’s, the American Legion Auxiliary, and worked as a substitute teacher and reading tutor.
For over 38 years Julie was the care giver for son Jim, who suffered a brain injury while at work. The family is grateful for the caregivers Wendy and Mary, who helped care for Jim and then for Julie earlier this year.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s, Rockledge at 11 AM on October 16, 2024 with viewing at 10:30 AM. burial to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
