Kimberly Ann “Kim” Jamison, 69, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Kim spent parts of her childhood growing up in Sandwich, Illinois, and Robinson, Illinois. She attended college at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, and ultimately settled in Bloomington, Illinois, where she began her life as a mother, teacher, and community presence, and built a legacy defined by compassion, creativity, and a genuine love for people.
A longtime 6th grade general studies teacher, Kim brought a bright, multicultural lens to her classroom. She believed deeply in the value of understanding other cultures, histories, and perspectives — a passion she shared enthusiastically with her students. Many of them carried her lessons far into adulthood, remembering the way she encouraged curiosity, empathy, and global thinking. Colleagues often recalled how Kim could brighten an entire staff room with her kindness, her humor, and her thoughtful way of seeing others.
Kim was a life-loving, deeply caring, spontaneous, silly, and endlessly thoughtful soul who gave of herself generously. Friends describe her as someone who always made people feel seen - remembering small details, celebrating their joys, holding space for their pain, and showing up without being asked. She lived above and beyond the call of duty in all things, especially in friendship, motherhood, and teaching.
Creativity flowed naturally from her. She drew beautifully, could analyze art and music with intuitive depth, and found beauty in the simplest details — from seashells gathered on the beach to the birds she lovingly fed in her garden. Nature grounded her; travel inspired her; and sharing these passions with children — her own and her students — was one of her greatest joys.
Kim is survived by her sons, Nick (Heather) and Jon; grandsons, Julian and Jadey; brother, Rocky (Tami); sister, Kelly (Dan) and many loving in-laws, cousins, nephews and dear friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Jan; father, Jack; and mother, Darlene.
In her final years, as she navigated the challenges of advanced Alzheimer’s, Kim remained surrounded by profound love, dignity, and care. Living near the beach in Florida, she was supported not only by her sons and their families but also by a devoted circle of caregivers, helpers, and longtime friends who visited often. Her days were filled with gentle routines, familiar faces, and the steady presence of people who deeply cherished her. Even as her world grew quieter, her kindness, warmth, and soft smile continued to shine through — a reflection of the love she had poured into others throughout her life.
Kim leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, compassion, and joy - and a circle of family, former students, and friends whose lives are forever richer because of her.
She will be remembered with deep gratitude, warm celebration, and enduring love.
In keeping with Kim’s wishes, no public service will be held. A private celebration of life will follow at time of the family’s choosing. In lieu of flowers, donations to Brevard County Zoo (https://brevardzoo.org) or the Unit 5 Educational Foundation (https://www.unit5.org/foundation) are appreciated.
