Lela Ruth Thompson: Wife, Mother, Grandmother and loved by all who knew her?
Lela was born March 28, 1930 at her home in Speedwell, Tennessee where she was raised. As a young women she met and married Tommy Thompson; the couple resided in Ohio where they raised four daughters, then moved to Cocoa, Florida in 1972.
On March 5, 2011, Lela followed her husband, Tommy, and daughter, Tammy Kay, to their eternal home in Heaven.
Lela loved her family with all of her heart, especially her great-grandson, "Trevor"; she would say "he is my reason for living".
She attended Clearlake First Baptist Church in Cocoa. She loved the Lord and loved to serve others. Serving was one of her Spiritual gifts, we the family feel she had many gifts and we are sure she was a gift to us from God.
Lela leaves behind daughters, Diane Petro (Bob), Betty Rigby (Charlie), Sherry Tarntino (Mark). Grandchildren, Brian Petro, Justin Petro, Clint Rigby, Christopher Rigby, Melinda Rigby, Megan Tartino, Celeste Tarntino; two special great-grandchildren, Trevor Petro and Junny Christopher Rigby; and three siblings, Ray Fortner, Mable Leyes and Eula Hildebrand.
Family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children in Lexington, KY, http://www.shrinershq.org/Hospitals/Lexington.
Visitation will be held at Clearlake First Baptist Church, 1640 Minnie Street, Cocoa, Florida 32926, 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 10, 2011; services immediately following, then to Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 South US Hwy #1, Rockledge, Florida 32955 for her eternal rest..
