

He is survived by three sons: Mark. W. Johnson (Barbara) of Moyock, NC, Stephen M. Johnson (Kathy) of Jax, FL, & Terry L. Johnson, Jax, FL. One sister, Verona Wiggins of Brandon, FL, three brothers C. M. Johnson (Faye) of Rockledge, FL, Vernon Johnson (Linda) of Ooltewah, TN, & Jim Johnson (Linda) of Franklin, NC, four stepchildren: Kenneth (Kaye) Moody of Jax., FL, Valerie (Ted) Girard of Port St. John, FL, Darlene Matthews of Port St. John, FL, & Keith Moody, Jax., FL. He has six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, & numerous nieces & nephews.
He was born in Spuds, FL. During the Great Depression, he joined the CCC. He served in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. After the war, he moved to Darien, GA, where he was a movie theatre manager. There, he met Margaret Spaulding, in 1946. They married and had three sons: Mark, Steve, & Terry. In 1961, he moved to Cocoa Beach, FL, where he owned & operated Spaceport TV, until he retired 35 yrs later. He was the Western Union agent in Cocoa Beach during the glory days of the ‘race to the moon’. In 1976, he married Dorothy I. Moody. He enjoyed diving, skiing, boating and fishing. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Merritt Island, FL.
He was predeceased by his older sister, Thelma Jones and wife, Dorothy Moody.
He passed away peacefully, at home.
Viewing will be held at the Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 South U.S. 1, Rockledge, FL 32955, this Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at 10 a.m., with funeral service at 11 a.m.
