

Nancy Staal (née Bannin), age 76, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 23, 1948, Nancy lived a life full of grace, wisdom, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Nancy earned her Bachelor’s degree from Dunbarton College, where her love for learning flourished. She later pursued her Master’s degree at Georgia State University, dedicating her life to education and the empowerment of others through knowledge. Her quiet strength and boundless generosity inspired those around her, and her legacy as a nurturing teacher and mentor will endure for years to come.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, James Staal, who stood by her side through all of life’s challenges and triumphs. She was a proud and loving mother to her son David Staal and her daughter Jennifer Pastore, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her beloved sister Barbara Kelley and her brother Richard Bannin, who shared in the joys and memories of her remarkable life.
Nancy’s heart was as boundless as her intellect, and she was known for her ability to make others feel heard and valued. Her love for her family and friends was unwavering, and her wisdom and guidance will remain with them always. Her strength, generosity, and compassion were the cornerstones of her character, and she will be forever missed.
In this time of sorrow, we choose to celebrate Nancy’s extraordinary life. Her impact on those around her, whether family, friends, or students, is a legacy that will continue to inspire.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 2 PM at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955, where her family and friends will come together to honor the beautiful life of this remarkable woman.
