Born in Mims Florida on August 2, 1929. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Florida. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling and was particularly fond of the memories made during her trips to Alaska and to our Nation’s Capital in Washington, DC. She enjoyed making memories during multiple visits to her favorite town, Nashville, TN. There she met a multitude of famous country music stars and took in the sights, sounds and history of American music. She enjoyed her many visits to the Grand Ole Opry and the Ralph Emery Show.
Phyllis was an avid reader and had an uncanny ability to absorb several books in just a few sittings. She was often found leaving the public library with some 5 or 6 books at a time. She enjoyed the peace and quiet in sitting down to complete crossword puzzles and games of solitaire on her home computer.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Eddie (Kathy) Crews, Phillip “Chuck” (Sheryl) Crews and Dennis Yancey; daughters, Charlene Gunn and Deborah (Michael) Flanagan; step-daughter, Faye Joiner; Phyllis also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren to carry on her legacy.
A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 11:00am at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US Highway 1 in Rockledge.
“If flowers grow in Heaven,
Lord, then pick a bunch for me.
Then place them in my mother’s arms
And tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her.
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek,
And hold her for a while.”
