I went to through the NYPD Police Academy with Rob. He was one of the very best. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

To my Uncle Robert, you really were a great man, someone to look up to, someone that has gone way too soon. I admired your love and dedication to your family and the pride that you had in all that you did. You made an amazing life with my Titi Mari and I will forever cherish the love that you shared in my heart. Rest in peace, until we meet again.

Robert, I am so very sorry that you are gone. My heart is broken for the both of you. I will forever remember you for your funny sense of humor, your crazy music, your true kindness and patience. You always welcomed everyone into your heart and home for holidays, birthdays or just a pool side BBQ which we have had many of those. I will cherish the memories of going to baseball games, from NY to Baltimore, a wine tasting in the fall, eating  out - trying many different restaurants and me always being the designated driver so that you  Mari, Hector and Rosie can enjoy yourselves by putting down a few cocktails, especially your LIIT’s. You will be forever missed especially by Mari. It was a pleasure and a true honor to be part of your life and witness such a love and bond that the two of you had. I will keep you in my heart, I will also watch over your love Marisol until the day we meet again. Rest in peace Robert.

To my brother Robert, it might be by marriage but you were the best and only brother I had. You will be truly missed every single day. You have gone too soon for all of us. We have had many, many great times together.  From celebrating our birthdays, going to baseball games, eating out, or simply hanging out in your backyard. I will treasure all of the great memories we made together. The many personal jokes that we had will keep a smile on my face.  The one I remember and always laugh about is: “I pick things up and put things down” , I know that you are laughing about that one. You were such an amazing great guy. You left many broken hearts especially for my sister Mari. I promise to watch over her always until we meet again. Keep watch over us my brother, your love, spirit and soul will remain with us always. Save a beer for me until we meet again. God Bless You, may you rest in eternal peace.

Thoughtful, kind, friendly and caring all describes Robert. He was someone so full of life who shared that life with us all. His personal bond linking each of us in some way will never be broken. Robert will always remain in our hearts giving us comfort and strength.

Robert as you know I was there since day 1, I’m honored to have been a part of and witness such a beautiful unity and true love between you and Marisol and I appreciate the great times and laughter we all shared together especially the 4 of us in this picture in the Florida keys celebrating mine and Marisol’s December birthdays together. I will never forget your laughter, your love for music, your funny sense of humor and the way you said Maddy instead of Mari . To my love my heart and soul.  This world will not be the same without you.  Twenty-three years ago I had this reoccuring dream that I would meet the man of my dreams and Robert was his name and there you were a dream come true.   

We have a love that most people only dream of and never have.  My days right now seem so empty but full at the same time because  our love fills me. 

I will miss your kisses.  Oh those kisses that always made me smile and feel like a teenager in love.  All these years you still had that effect on me.  

We have so many memories together and I will cherish them forever.  I miss you horribly.  I talk to you all the time. I hope you are listening.   If I could just go back in time or pull you from the heavens to bring you back to me I would.  

I need you I miss you. I love you.  You are the cream in my coffee the butter on my toast the apple of my eye.  I want to be in whatever world you are in.  I love you forever.  You know what i am saying (I wish I could here you saying that as you always did)

It’s hard to believe you’re no longer with us. I have so many great memories of the times we shared — from going to various parks to see the Yankees play, to eating at the new restaurants you and Mari had found, or simply sitting in the lanai with a few drinks, enjoying the beautiful home you created together.

You were a good man who worked tirelessly around the house, making so many improvements and proudly showcasing them to your friends and family.  You had such a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life — a good game, good food, and a good IPA — but none of those compared to the love you had for your wife,  my sister.

Not long ago, you made me promise to watch over her — and I promise you that I will.

Thank you, Robert, for the life and love you gave her, and your stepchildren, Alyssa and CJ. Thank you for coming into our lives and leaving such a lasting impression. Your legacy, love, laughter, and loyalty will never be forgotten.

Thank you all for coming this evening to honor Rob who meant so much to us. 
I am honored to speak & share some memories we have with Rob. 

In the short 8 years that I’ve got to get to know Rob he taught us a lot. We spent endless hours talking. He shared a lot about his life from growing up on Long Island to serving in the US Air Force overseas Sudan Specifically , responding to 9/11 as an NYPD officer and of course how much he used to bench and squat! 

Rob was someone that praised others. He wasn’t just a friend he was a mentor. he was someone I couldn’t wait to tell a success story whether In the gym or my career or our family. I always tried to text Rob pictures to show him something interesting going on in my life but with that flip phone it never made it through. Which in return made the times we hung out so interesting to talk about anything new or events in our life. 

Rob was someone who you meet in life that change’s your perspective on things. He always gave advice from his life experiences. He was never one to beat around the bush. Rob was known for his strength not just physically but the emotional strength that he carried with him. To say the least he went through some hardships in his life. 

Rob was the loving kind even if he didn’t admit it. He was always excited to spend time with Marisol. He would  let me know when a good time was to get together with the 4 of us. My wife & I truly enjoyed hanging out with them there was lots of laughter! My wife & I were just talking a few days before Rob passed that we wanted him and Marisol to come by and help us design the landscaping for our backyard. He was great with design and landscape on their house. He made it feel like paradise. Rob was always so exited to have us over every time he did something new and exciting to their house.

Rob aka Ruthless Rob,
My fallen brother in blue. It took me a while to write this because I still can't believe you're gone. You became my partner in 2002 and I'll never forget the countless nights we spent doing God's work and restoring order at the Copa. Although you kept to yourself, over the years  I grew to learn a lot about you. You were a man of strong principles always guided by doing the right thing and never afraid to express your opinion. A man who loved his country and was a  true patriot. I could always expect a phone call from you on Veteran's and Memorial Day. A sports fanatic who was constantly updating me on sports statistics that I didn't necessarily ask for. A devoted son and husband who always made sure his family was taken care of. A positive spirit who didn't let anything bring him down because as he would always say "This too shall pass." Rob was a guy you wanted to have in your corner and  I will be forever grateful to have had him in mine. Until we meet again....Rest in Peace.

Rob was different. Rob always had a sense of reality when it came to everything. Rob gave the kind of advice that stays with you. Not fluffy words but real, honest, truths. Whether we were stuck, lost, or just doubting ourselves he always knew what to say. He believed in success and not just in careers or goals, but in the kind of success that comes from becoming a good person, living with purpose, and never giving up. He never made you feel bad about anything. For the last 8 years we have known Rob, he was everything. Loyal. Honest. Funny and extremely blunt, in a way that made bad days better. He always celebrated our wins like they were his and when things fell apart, he was always the first to show up, no questions asked. Whenever we were together he always reminded us how good we were doing for ourselves and our kids. Our first son Logan had his first swim in his pool. Rob even loved our dog Abbie even though he had to take multiple antihistamines because he was allergic to her. But he never let that stop him from playing with her and petting her. 

There are people you meet in life who change you. Rob was that person for us. We will carry his laughter, and his love with us for the rest of our life. And we know we are not alone in that.

Rest easy, Rob. You were one of a kind. You showed us how to be strong, how to live fully, and how to love deeply. We’ll miss you every single day, especially our intracoastal days but your light will never go out.

Dear Marisol and Groppe family like to extend my heartfelt condolences 
.Rob was definately one of a kind.. Old school thru and thru.. Rob was a strong man physically and in his convictions. A principled man who was an extremely loyal friend. Rob was a man of integrity and above all an American Patriot ! A proud veteran who always went out of his way to thank fellow veterans. If you were a veteran Rob would go above and beyond.. personally i enjoyed all the times the late tour guys shared... we had a solid group who looked out for one another...Rob was a crazy Rangers fan as well his his Giants... The only one with worse computer skills than me was Rob 🤣  paper and pencil generation... Loved talking construction projects with Rob...very talented hands... he took pride in everything he did... He met his love later and life and I know he really was content... Rob is a huge loss and my God watch over him...Rest easy Big Fella! And always remember " calm your ass down"   🙏💙🇺🇸🙏

My prayers go out to Rob,  Marisol, and the Groppe family. Rob, a great soul taken way too soon.  Thank you for having my father’s back all those years as his NYPD partner. I knew he was in good hands and I always rested easy because you were with him.  Until you meet again may you rest in peace.

My family and I are devastated to hear of this tragic loss. Rob was the partner of my brother-in-law, Peter Coste, and one of his closest friends.  We have such fond  memories of Rob and his beautiful wife. What a wonderful, kind, generous man. We are so grateful for his service to New York City and our country . Our deepest sympathies to his wife and children they will be in our prayers. May he rest in peace.

Rest in Peace Big Man. Rob had one of the biggest and loudest laughs that would light up a room. More importantly he had the Biggest Heart for those who were close to him. I Love You Brother

My heart is broken.  Robert gone too soon.  The most loyal, steady sweetest man you will ever find.  May God bless him in heaven.  Rest easy my friend.  All my love and prayers for Marisol and the family.

Hearing about Rob's passing is terribly a sad news and loss for all of his family and friends, especially for his "Blue Family."  I've worked with him on the midnights as part of the Evidence Collection Team, in the NYPD.  He was the work wife that I didn't expected.  Our partnership was definitely unique.  He was always straight forward, stern, and disciplined coming from a military background - as to myself, relaxed, care-free, and easy going.  Rob's exterior is mostly intimidating, but once you hear his laugh and see him smile, he is truly a huge teddy bear inside.  I considered Rob as an older brother because he did looked out for me and kept me out of trouble.  There was never a dull job going to crime scenes with him.  We always had a good laugh no matter how difficult or how long we are stuck at a job.  We both loved making overtime.  His famous line "this is going to cost the City of New York!!!  Rob, you'll sorely be missed - especially by your "Blue Family."  Rob was a great partner and friend, he was also truly a great patriot.  Until we meet again someday my brother.  Rest in peace.

Rob was a long time friend and co worker.  He was a little rough around the edges at work only, he completely hated computers and he had no patience for bullshit, but his choice in music was awesome. He was a dedicated service man who proudly displayed his beliefs at the home he built in Florida for him and his wife. When he retired my husband and I visited him almost every year and he opened up his home and his heart to us. He was a kind and generous person who will be dearly missed.

Such a great man and great friend, we worked together, went to ballgames and concerts together.  Someone who was always there for others.  The world is a little darker without him here. Rest in peace my friend.
