Shirley Sue Evans

January 12th, 1935 - October 13th, 2021

A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Shirley went to meet her Lord with arms wide open and a smile on her face.

Survived by her sister, Sandi LaRoche of Rockledge FL, husband, Frank, and children, Melissa, Nancy, and Joshua; sister, Mitzi Stone of San Diego CA, and her children, Lauren and Shea; granddaughter, Sarah Hough of Delray Beach FL, husband John; and her great granddaughter, Aspen, of Gainesville FL.

She is predeceased by her mother and step-father, Mary Elsie and Marvin Stone; father, Theodore Whiteside; grandparents, Arabella and Fred White. Also, daughters, De Beck-Marion and Joni Dee Evans; brother, Richard Whiteside, and sister, Sybia Evans. Nieces: Cheryl and Diane Whiteside; Nephew: Robert "Bob" Evans

Heaven just welcomed a new angel, Shirley Evans, a long-time resident of Cocoa Beach, who was born in Jonesboro, NC. Everyone could agree she was the “cool” one of the family who lived life on her terms. We all have stories of showing up on her doorstep when upset with our own moms and dads. She always welcomed whoever showed up with a Pepsi, a hug, and never judgement.

Shirley was a go-go dancer in Cocoa Beach during the astronauts' heydey. She loved those chocolate covered cherries and expected a box or two during the Christmas holidays. Shirley was always happy, full of life and fun to be with. She worked over the years as a bookkeeper/accountant, at the Cocoa Beach Golf Course, managed apartments on Merritt Island, and lastly, as a dispatcher in Cape Canaveral.

Fly with the angels, dear Shirley. You will always be remembered as the hippie-chick with long blonde hair blowing in the ocean breeze and a loving, wild spirit. We know you are being welcomed into your Heavenly family by all who went before you. We love you. Until we meet again..... XO

The family would like to express thanks to Orchid Cove for the kind and generous care given to Shirley over the years. Also, thanks to Brevard Hospice for their helpful and caring assistance during the final weeks.

Services will be held Friday, October 22, 2021at Florida Memorial Life Event Center, US #1, Rockledge FL. Visitation starts at 12 noon, Remembrance Service at 1 pm and Graveside Service at 2 pm.
