Susannah was born in Roseau, Commonwealth of Dominica on October 31st. She graduated from Saint Martin School, and went on to work for Eugenia Charles, Esq, who later became Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica. She later went on to pursue her dreams in Toronto, Canada.
Susannah is survived by Hayden John-Baptiste, her loving husband of 51 years. They were
married in Toronto, Canada June 20, 1970. These words, taken from an early poem to her, slightly adjusted to express his love to her again.
Dear Liz (Susannah),
O my darling dear thy lips were warm and sweet.
Every corner of my heart, they thrilled and lit.
Your voice was as golden as a trumpeter's horn.
oh my love, I love you with a true lover's heart.
My love for thee is richer than the rising sun.
My love for thee is purer than an unborn child.
Rest peacefully as you wait for me
Love Nedyah (Hayden)
Susannah had many loving memories in Canada, from making her own wedding veil for her wedding. That same wedding veil was later passed down to two of her close girlfriends that wore it on their wedding day as well. After their wedding, Susannah joined Hayden in the Bronx, New York where they began their family and their journey of 51 years.
Susannah enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, cooking, baking and crafts, but her kids were the most important focus in life. Susannah took pleasure in making every celebrated occasion special and festive; always going the extra mile. Her friends would say ”Look up the word Friend in the dictionary and you would find Susannah’s name in the definition”. We all were ensured a good experience at the many holiday celebrations she hosted. We remember the many Easter egg hunts and July 4th celebrations centered around her children and numerous nieces and nephews. You did not have to be a blood relative to be considered one. She would make them home made treats like: Ants on the log, July 4th themed desserts and health conscious loot bags (meaning absolutely no candies in those bags). A Happy Soul, she could be found always singing and dancing around the house.
Susuannah is lovingly survived by her children: Lisa John-Baptiste and Russell John-Baptiste.
Daughter In-Law: Katya Sokolovskaya
Grandchildren: Zion John-Baptiste.
Susannah was third of six children, siblings preceded in death: Avanel Jean-Jacques, Rosington Hussey, Nellie John
