Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she moved in 1936 to Washington, D.C., where she married and raised her family: sons Stuart Bernstein and Richard Bernstein, and a daughter, Mauree Jane Perry.
Vivacious, creative, athletic, she enjoyed many interests including golf and tennis, dancing, cooking, international travel and painting. But her greatest joy was her large family. In addition to her three children, she loved her seven grandchildren and their spouses, her 17 great-grandchildren and her dear husband of 27 years, Frederick Bishoff. For each one she created numerous hand-crocheted blankets, which they all continue to treasure and use as personal keepsakes.
In addition to these personal gifts created as a labor of love, an even greater gift were her strong family values and life lessons: "Be positive and strong;" "Love yourself and then you can love others;" Have empathy for the world around you." She gave generously to many causes, but especially those that benefit children.
A funeral service will take place at Washington Hebrew Congregation 3935 Macomb Street, NW Washington, D.C., Wednesday, December 7, 10:30 am. Interment to follow at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church. ln lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407 or to the Eppie Bishoff Children's Garden, Palm Healthcare Foundation, 1016 North Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida 33401.
