

Mr. Karlinsky, the son of Bernard and Sadie Karlinsky, was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised in Langley Park, Maryland along with his sisters, Phyllis and Gail. He graduated from High Point High School in 1962 and the University of Maryland at College Park in 1967. After graduation, Mr. Karlinsky moved to New York City where he worked as an import/export manager in the textile industry. He married Judy Gursky Karlinsky in 1973 and had two children: Jason and Jessica. Mr. Karlinsky later opened a local packaging and shipping business in Great Neck, New York and then worked for a number of years as a residential advisor in group homes for developmentally disabled adults.
Mr. Karlinsky is best remembered as a warm and loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and son who was outgoing and caring to all who knew him. He had an easy way with people and was cherished by his friends and adored by his many nephews, nieces, and cousins. In his later years, as a recovering alcoholic, he acted as a pillar of support helping friends and acquaintances through their hardest times in their recoveries from addiction.
Mr. Karlinsky is survived by his son Jason Karlinsky and wife Nancy Sabarra of New York, New York and their daughters Bethany and Ella, and his daughter Jessica (Karlinsky) Krasnovsky and husband Michael Krasnovsky of New York, New York and their son Jackson. He is also survived by his mother Sadie Karlinsky, of Rockville, Maryland, and his sisters Phyllis Chorazy of Reston, Virginia and Gail Ehrlich of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Adelphi, MD on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research www.michaeljfox.org.
