I knew Rob for 34 years, initially when we practiced law together in Washington, DC, and then for many years in the Boston area.  In recent times, although we lived in towns some distance from one another, we met for lunch once a year.  
Rob was smart, witty, and good company.  He had many friends with whom he kept in touch, and enjoyed sharing stories from long ago.
He was a fine lawyer, respected by all.
I will miss him.

I just found out about Rob's passing last week when I call his office to chat.
Rob was a friend who was brilliant and wise, a great combination.

He will be sorely missed, not only for his friendship but his wit and commitment to the community he served.

I first meet Rob twenty years ago. He was witty and intelligent with a sense of humor that made you think. I know I will miss him as a friend!

Robert was a dear friend, a wonderful lawyer and great mentor and teacher.  He taught me many things about practicing law and being a good attorney.  His compassion and dedication to his profession and clients serves as a model for all to emulate.  Robert was always ready with a quick joke, funny story and painful pun.  I will miss him and consider myself lucky to  have been his friend.

I just learned of Bob's death.  He and I were classmates at Georgetown University Law Center, graduating together in 1973. We were united in our love of arid jokes and insufferable puns, and shared more than our portion of pitchers of Schaeffer's and NattyBo at the Tune Inn on Capitol Hill. We fell out of touch when I left the area for the second time in 1987. I will raise a glass in his honor at our 40th reunion on October 18 and I will treasure always my memories of his keen intellect, bright wit, and just heart.

We practiced many years in the DC Courts.  He was fun and he gave good advice.  We missed him when he went to Massachusetts.

I knew Bob for many years as a colleague in the law.  He was a great guy and always willing to help.  May he rest in peace and god bless him and his family and friends in this difficult time.

I knew Bob for a number of years. I had a great deal of respect for him as an Attorney, a person, and a friend. Always in a good mood with something witty to say. I know a lot of the attorney's and court staff share my opinion. He will be sadly missed.

I knew Bob for several years as a fellow attorney.  Bob was a wealth of knowledge and a genuine decent person.  Bob was my "Go To Guy".  He would always be willing to answer questions and give you all the time you needed.  Our conversations always ended with a bit of laughter.  I miss him and will remember him always.  My condolences to the family.

Bob, Lloyd Elsten, Betsy Edwrds and I spent many hours perusing, meandering and kibbitzing. A dear, intelligent, lovely man.  will be missed.  I hope he and Lloyd and Betsy meet up and continue their hijinks. And I imagine I will laugh with them in the future as I did in the past.  Heather Shaner

I did not know Bob was gone .I am saddened beyond belief I was not expecting this .I shall ALWAYS remember

An open letter to Bobs family. I would like you all to know how much we all loved and enjoyed Bobs service and friendship. He was a wounderfull guy and a part of our court house family. We are all saddened to hear of his passing. He was always quick with a joke and spoke of his family often. I am sure you will miss him as much as we all will. God bless you all. When I was a young criminal defense attorney in Washington in the mid 1980's, Bob taught me my trade and helped me perfect it. He was a smiling, happy face in the most dreary of places. He taught me how to help people in great trouble and despair without getting dragged down by their depression. I miss his smile, I miss his jokes, I miss his funny stories, I miss him.

Very sorry to hear of Rob's passing. He was a colleague and co-counsel in many cases throughout Plymouth County.  He was a very good and thorough attorney.  I also enjoyed sense of humor.
