Iva Briggs

Iva Adams Briggs, age 81, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 in her home. She was born in Nash County on August 3, 1934 to the late “Hick” and Bluma Adams. Iva had retired from Holiday Inn after 30 years of service and continued her success by operating her rental properties. Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Shelton Briggs; her siblings, Jessie Baker, Betty Jackson, Dorothy Jones and Mickey Adams. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Addington and wife, Ava; her daughter, Denise Kannon and Husband, Mike and Cindy Jones; her grandchildren, “JR” Addington, Ashley Lynch, Caitlin Schoultz, Chris Radford, and Libby Jones; her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ethan, Christopher, Nickolas, Alana, and Alyssa; her brother, Bill Adams and wife Bertha; her sister, Lena Eveland and her best friend and companion Scooter Bug and several nieces and nephews. The family offers special thanks to her sister Lena, nieces and nephews, Debbie and Al Mills, Jane Wrenn, neighbor, Timmy Griffin, longtime friend, George “Porky” Speight, and her hospice nurse, Shelly Rhodes for the special care and the help during this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM in the chapel at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Mill Branch Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount NC.
