Carol LaGay “Gay” Tarron-Crone, 78, of Rogers passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023. She was born November 30, 1944 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to the late JB and Pearline Goldie Brown Tarron. Mrs. Tarron-Crone was also preceded by her sister, Patti Smith and 2 brothers, Joe Tarron and Dennis Tarron. Gay lived a full, adventurous life! She started working summers as a car-hop at a very young age and, in the early years of the the Vietnam War, she built bombs. Later, she worked exercising quarter horses and driving hay trucks for family members. Then, she earned her cosmetology license and she found her niche! However, Gay still found time to drive race cars and still holds a class record. She loved traveling to anyplace that was warm, sandy and had water… her favorite was wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama with Don listening to live music and spending time with her beach friends. When in Rogers, they also enjoyed spending the weekends listening to the live performances at the Rail Yard Live in Downtown Rogers. She was very liberal with rule changes in marbles and dominoes. Plus, she could build a pretty impressive burn pile that, on more than one occasion, resulted in the Rogers Fire Department showing up at her home or resulted in her eyebrows being singed. She loved her family, reading books, being at the beach, early mornings sitting outside having coffee, live music, especially in Gulf Shores at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club listening to Smokey and Bob, dancing, playing dominoes and marbles. Survivors include her husband, Donald “Mr. Don” Crone. They were together for 22 years and married for 15. She set their wedding date for a New Year’s Eve Caribbean Cruise for two reasons. One, they would never forget when their anniversary was, and two, there would always be a celebration. Ms. Gay is also survived by her children, Bunnie (Drew) McGee and Alan Johnston; step-daughters, Kelly (Matt) Long and Stacy Collins; Grandchildren, Zach (Kerri) McGee, Josh (Kyla) McGee, Alex (Amy) Johnston, Mason Long, Spencer and Alyssa Collins, who were her pride and joy; her brother, Audie Gene Tarron of Hot Springs and numerous extended family members. She also leaves behind a multitude of friends in the beauty industry. She wanted us to acknowledge Thia Le, she was so proud of your accomplishments. To her other numerous friends, she loved you all, more than she could ever express. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Gay on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at TxAR House, located at 300 S 1st Street, Rogers, AR. Family and friends are invited to drop in between 6-9:00 pm for a light meal and a beverage. The family requests that you consider making a donation to your favorite charity in Gay’s memory, or to hers, The Alabama Coastal Foundation, PO Box 1073, Mobile, AL 36633 or www.JoinAcf.org. Gay was planning to volunteer for them when she returned to Gulf Shores for the 2023/24 Snowbird Season. Arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
