Dionne was the beloved wife of Wesley Dundas, with whom she shared almost 50 years of marriage. Together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Jarron, Dawn, and James. She is also lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Tracy Dundas, and by Joi Polvisen-Dundas, mother of her cherished grandchildren. Dionne was a proud and adoring grandmother to Aidan and Connor Dundas, who brought her immense joy.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Northrup, and her sister, Lynn (Chuck) Valentine, as well as numerous nephews, great-nephews, and many “chosen” grandchildren who held a special place in her heart.
Dionne was a lifelong learner and dedicated professional. She was a member of the first graduating class of Old Jefferson High School in Rockford and went on to graduate from Rock Valley College School of Nursing in the spring of 1978. She dedicated 43 years of her life to nursing, serving others with compassion, strength, and unwavering care. She retired in 2021 from Springwoods Behavioral Health. Throughout her remarkable career, she worked for many organizations, including Sherman Hospital, Swedish American Hospital, OSF Hospice, and Circle of Life Hospice. Nursing was more than a profession to Dionne—it was a calling.
Her passion for service extended beyond her career. Dionne generously volunteered with many community organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts. She was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church and deeply valued attending Christian retreats, where she found fellowship, renewal, and a profound connection to Christ.
Dionne lived in Rockford, Illinois, on and off for 51 years before moving to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in 2009, where she continued to build community and friendships rooted in kindness and faith.
Two services will be held for those who wish to pay their respects. The first service will take place on January 10, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A second service in Rockford, Illinois, will be announced at a later date.
Dionne will be remembered for her generous heart, her steadfast faith, her dedication to others, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, healed, and inspired.
