Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend George M. Cox, 85, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, AR. He had been battling prostate Cancer for nearly four years. He left behind a legacy of love, faith, family, and devotion to his Lord. George was born August 27, 1939, in Virden, IL, to Ralph and Mary Cox.
George worked as a machinist at Caterpillar for 35 years before he retired to Arkansas. He was a member of the Rogers Gun Club.
George could often be found tinkering in the garage with his many tools, birdwatching, fishing, grooming his yard, or staying updated with his grandkids. He enjoyed keeping track of his fighting Illini, the Razorbacks, and, of course, the Cubbies. 2024 was finally his year to win the family March Madness bracket.
George enjoyed listening to bluegrass or the Gaither Vocal Band. He saved everything.
George is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, married for nearly 65 years; their children, Terri Fish (Dave) of Bentonville, AR, Craig Cox (Patti) of Centerton, AR, and Matthew Cox (Jayme) of Knoxville, TN; and his brother, Bob (Betty) and sister, Donna Smith, both of Virden, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive George.
George was a proud and devoted grandfather to Alecia (Kai) Pflederer, Tyler (Beth) Nafziger, Mary Grace (Mike) Shaw, Alicia (Matt) Garza, Amanda Harp, Ben (Casey) Cox, Jonah Cox, Cara Cox, Peighton Cox, and Ellery Cox, as well as his great-grandchildren Ace and Skye Garza, Oakley and Hannah Nafziger, Luca Pflederer, and Lexington and Becklynn Cox.
