Jimmy was a graduate of Rogers High School. In his early years, he contributed to his family's business, "Pete's Auto Glass & Upholstery," demonstrating the work ethic that would define his career. He then dedicated his life to service as a fireman and EMT for the Rogers Fire Department from 1980 to 1997. Following that, he worked at Village on the Creeks as a maintenance and grounds man.
For 51 years, Jimmy was married to his loving wife, Lisa, with whom he raised two wonderful children, and Tamra and James Jr. Jimmy and Lisa began their relationship in Arkansas after both relocated from Missouri, forging an enduring partnership and family.
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He would often compete in bass fishing tournaments, and he enjoyed spending time on the lake as well as in the woods. He had a hobby of searching for arrowheads, a pursuit he shared with his children and grandchildren, eventually donating his collection to The Museum of Native American History in Bentonville. A fan of Elvis and a follower of the Braves and the Chicago cubs, Jimmy’s interests were as diverse as they were endearing.
With a legacy rich in wit, Jimmy was known for his famous lines, which his family continues to quote fondly. His extreme sarcasm and love for making others laugh are remembered by those who knew him.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Lisa Hixon of Rogers, Arkansas; his children, and Tamra McGinnis and husband Preston of Fayetteville, Arkansas, James Hixon Jr. of Rogers, Arkansas; his brother, Patrick "Pat" Hixon of Las Vegas, Nevada; as well as his beloved grandchildren
Kesha Hixon-Buech and husband Dylan, Ava Hixon, Kacer McGinnis, Maddox Hixon, Kainen McGinnis, Madalyn Hixon, and Luke McGinnis, and great-granddaughter Harper Buech, niece Angela "Angie" Sidebotham, and nephew Peter Hixon also survive him.

A memorial service will be held in celebration of Jimmy's life on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Rollins Funeral Home, located at 1401 W Hudson Rd, Rogers, Arkansas, 72756.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Rogers Fire Department or the Broyles Foundation (Supporting Alzheimer’s Caregivers), in honor of Jimmy’s legacy of service and kindness.
