James H. “Pete” Smith, age 93, passed away on October 1, 2021. He was born on May 27, 1928, in Centerton, Arkansas, to Louis and Alma Smith. He spent his life in the Northwest Arkansas area, except for his years in the Army, including the Korean War.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gene Smith, and Louise Williams; and his longtime friend, Rena Copeland.
He is survived by his brothers, Gary Smith and wife, Rosetta of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Raymond Smith and wife, Anne of Aiken, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Pete spent his life helping his family beginning at an early age on the family farm. Following his time in the Army he returned to the family farm in Centerton where he raised cattle and broilers. After a fall in 2015 ended his farming career, he spent his last years in assisted living.
A Celebration of Life will be graveside at the Centerton Cemetery on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 1:30pm.
