Katharina "Katie" (Selmer) Hines

Katharina “Katie” Hines, 77, of Rogers, Arkansas sadly passed away on February 8, 2024. She was born on October 12, 1946 in Kirchmoeser, Germany to the late Ernst Guenter Selmer and Elisabeth Charlotte (August).

Katie grew up living in Germany. On February 25, 1966 she was married to her husband, Gail Hines. She moved to the United States on November 6, 1966 at only 20 years-old. The two spent 50 years happily married, and they had one son, Robert Hines. She proudly received her citizenship in 1978 at the Fort Smith, Arkansas District Court.

She resided in Rogers, Arkansas for a majority of her life. In her early years, Katie worked for Emerson Electric in Rogers as a team leader, retiring in 2001. Here, she met many lifelong friends and made a lasting impression on the company. In her spare time, Katie enjoyed pursuing genealogy, and was even able to translate German documents. She also loved arts and crafts, and spent a lot of time painting. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by: husband, Gail C. Hines; son, Robert C. Hines; parents, Ernst and Elisabeth Selmer; and other extended family members. Survived by: grandson, Austin Hines.
