Lena Joy Penrod

Joy was born to Albert and Lena Belle Randolph on April 2, 1931, on a farm in Floyd County, Texas. Her family moved to Lubbock, Texas when she was seven years old, and she graduated from Lubbock High School in 1949. She met the love of her life, Kenneth Penrod and they were married June 9, 1951. She graduated from Texas Technological College (Texas Tech) in 1953 with a degree in journalism.

Joy loved her family, wondering around on adventures, collecting rocks, writing, and traveling. She was a prayer warrior for her family and people she never met but would hear about. She loved school and learning, even attending on-line courses into the age of her late 80’s and early 90’s.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Penrod, parents, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa and husband Don Todd of Amarillo, Texas, Jane and husband William Powell of Bella Vista, Arkansas and grandsons David Todd and wife Jackie, Eric Todd and wife Rickay, and great-granddaughter Lexi Ann Todd and great-grandson Kace Everett Todd.

A private graveside ceremony will be held on April 7th at Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock Texas and a memorial on April 15th at Village Baptist Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
