Lisa grew up in Decatur, Arkansas, surrounded by her brothers and sisters and her beloved cousins. After completing her studies at the University of Arkansas, she began her teaching career. She taught for over 40 years, primarily in the Gravette and Bentonville school systems. She loved to read, and so many people learned to read and learned to love reading from her in those years. Recently, someone asked how she managed to stay in the classroom and stay motivated over that long career. She told them, “I just love kids.”
Lisa had many hobbies: quilting, weaving baskets, textile arts, gardening, and canning. She was an avid traveler and her adventures included scuba diving, whitewater rafting, canoeing, and fishing. She was an enthusiastic hiker her whole life.
After retirement, she volunteered at Hobbs State Park and the Ozark Natural Science Center. She joined the Arkansas Master Naturalists and worked on stream monitoring. She never stopped working and educating.
Lisa is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Tom M. Edmiston, and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Jason Edmiston of Las Vegas, NV, and Patty Lutz of Ravensdale, WA, and her two grandchildren. Her memory will be cherished far from Arkansas by Philipp Unternaehrer, Christina Gabriella Gordon, and Aurélie Chamerois, and their families.
A visitation is planned on Saturday, July 12th at the Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, Arkansas from 10:00-12:00AM, followed by a graveside service at Falling Springs Cemetery in Decatur, Arkansas.
