

Louis Ray Hewitt, 62, of Bentonville, AR and formerly of Ft. Smith, AR and Bakersfield, CA, passed away peacefully Friday Nov. 18, 2011 at N.W.M.C. in Springdale, AR. Louis was born April 26, 1949 in Dragerton, Utah to parents James Hewitt and Doris Virginia Hart. Louis is survived by children Shelly, Joshua, and Louis Wayne; grandchildren, Tiffany, Jorge, Star, Kayla, Damion, Louis Michael Wayne, James, and Mya; brothers, James, Russell, Leslie, Kenneth, and David; sister, Barbara; and many nieces and nephews. Louis served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from June 1968 to July 1969 and was awarded a purple heart for injuries received in combat. Louis worked as a switchman at the Southern Pacific Railroad where he was employed for 23 years. Louis was an avid sports fan and also took great pleasure in coaching his sons Josh and Louis and nephews Jeff and Mike in youth baseball alongside his brother Kenneth for several years. Louis was also a motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Visitation will be held Monday Nov. 21, 2011 from 6pm to 8pm at Rollins funeral home 1401 W Hudson Rd Rogers, AR. Funeral Services will be held at the same location on Tuesday Nov. 22, 2011 at 2pm. A military burial service will be held at the Ft. Smith National Cemetery on Wednesday Nov. 23, 2011 in Ft. Smith, AR. The time of the burial service will be announced during the funeral service.
