Mary Townsend

Mary was born March 28, 1940, in Southside, AR, to loving parents David Arthur Walker and L. Dottie Renfroe Walker.

Mary was passionate about her love for the Lord. She enjoyed bingo and dancing, and was known by all for her caring and compassionate personality. She cared for elderly neighbors and ill family members, and devoted her life to caring for her son, neighbors, and friends. One of the greatest joys in her life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Dottie Walker and her sister, Dorothy Pruitt.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Herbert Townsend; her sons, Troy L. Townsend of Washburn, MO, and Kenneth L. Townsend of Cassville, MO; daughters, Lanna M. Cook of Bentonville, and Cathy L. Townsend of Washburn; brothers, Connie Walker of Bentonville, AR, Onnie Walker of Pea Ridge, AR, and Doyle Walker of Rogers, AR; sisters, Glenna Thompson of CA, Reba Windle of Smithville, MO, Bonnie Walker of Pea Ridge, AR, and Shirley Womack of Bentonville, AR. Mary also leaves behind her grandchildren, Amber Danielle, Kynan Scott, Brittney Renee, Casey Lee, and David Coy the 3rd, as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of the life of Mary Townsend will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn, MO. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.
