On November 29, 2020, Naoma Pool-Cope passed away from complications with Covid-19. She was 99 ½ years old, born on July 10, 1921. Naoma received her Nursing degree from the Colorado Training School at Denver General Hospital in 1943. She loved nursing and trained nurses throughout her career. She met her soon to be husband, Joe and they started their lives together in Las Vegas, NM. Joe was a World War II Veteran and Naoma continued her Nursing career at the local and state-run hospitals in New Mexico. She was a working Mother, starting their family in 1948 at the birth of their son. She had six children, Cam, Bonnie, Guy, Cliff, Tammy, and Shannon. They moved to Rogers, AR in the 70s where Naoma joined the Nursing Staff at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, AR. She was a caretaker away from work as well, and always helping others, taking in stray animals, working throughout her long life after retiring by taking in ironing, repairing, and selling antiques and as a greeter at KFC. She always had a project to work on and always something to give you or do for you. Later in life, she made many friends at Golden Corral, where they became her 2nd family, and it became her 2nd home. We cherish the stories she told us of her life growing up. Her historical knowledge and memories shared were as if she experienced them the day before. She had a sharp mind and fighting spirit. She will be missed greatly. She will be buried at the War Eagle Cemetery, Benton County, AR on Friday, December 4th. No services will be held at this time because of Covid-19. We will hold a Memorial Service for her at War Eagle on what would have been her 100th Birthday, July 10, 2021.
