

Raymond Hershel Mackey, 80, of Shiloh, IL passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on January 16, 2011. Mr. Mackey, a longtime resident of Wentzville, MO, had been a middle school science teacher for the Wentzville School District from 1963 through 1991, when he retired.
Raymond was born in Gravel Hill, AR on November 6, 1930, and graduated from Russellville High School in 1949. A Korean War Veteran, Mr. Mackey served in the Navy with distinction from 1950 through 1954. Raymond met his wife Beatrice while they both attended Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville. Mr. Mackey graduated in 1959 and began his teaching career in Lamar, AR that same year. Before moving to Wentzville, Mr. Mackey taught in Auxvasse, MO, from 1961 to 1963.
Mr. Mackey was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Millie Mae Mackey, and his grandson, Jacob Kellogg. Raymond is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice Mackey, his sister Lucy Mae Farmer, his children Raenell Mackey, Ron Mackey, Deatrice Kellogg and his grandsons Tanner Mackey, Alex Kellogg, Sumner Mackey and Zachary Kellogg.
Memorials may be made on Raymond’s behalf to www.jacobsladderfoundation.org, a charity in honor of his grandson that provides educational scholarship opportunities to kids in need.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 19th at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, AR. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield, AR. Arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, AR. Home, Rogers, AR.
