He enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan, particularly of baseball.
Robert graduated from Mason City High School in 1934.
He married Helen Esther Schmock on October 6th, 1940. They were married for 42 wonderful years until her untimely death in 1984. Robert and Helen had one son, Robert John Thompson, born in 1942. He preceded his father in death in 2006.
He worked for Lehigh Portland Cement Company in Mason City, Iowa from 1936 to 1965 as a Master Industrial Electrician. After he retired from Lehigh, they moved to Costa Mesa, CA where they resided until Helen’s passing in 1984. Robert then relocated to Northwest Arkansas in 1986.
Cremation services are under the arrangement of Rollins Funeral Home.
