Barbara Jean Curry

Mrs. Curry was born in Franklin, GA on September 10, 1933, daughter of the late Gordon Allen and Annie Clementine Miller Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband Grover W. Curry on October 16, 2001, three brothers Tom Allen, Gordon Allen and Tillman Allen, and two half brothers Judson Allen and Homer Boggus. Mrs. Curry grew up in Franklin, Ga. where she attended and graduated from Heard County High School playing in different sports but excelling in basketball. She was an avid University of Georgia Bulldog fan. She was a collector of figurine angels that she loved to show everyone. Mrs. Curry had a charismatic way of connecting with others making everyone feel important. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. One of her favorite things to do was go to the different beaches in Florida to enjoy the sand and beautiful ocean. More than anything, Mrs. Curry was very devoted to her family and to her church.

Survivors include her two daughters Beverly Johnson and her husband Ken of Hiram, Elizabeth "Liz" Mull of St. Louis, MO., brothers Henry Allen of Franklin, GA., J.B. Allen of TN., Frank Allen of TX., Herschel Allen of Lanette, AL., sisters Lillian Newell of S.C., Lorene Denney of TX., Linda Pike of Columbus, GA., Grandchildren William F. Livingston, III, Kimberly Johnson Duncan, Haley Mull, great grandchildren Kristin Livingston and Bayden Lambert. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A private interment for Mrs. Curry was conducted Saturday June 11, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, Rome, A memorial service followedat 1:00 p.m. at Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Kremer officiating. The family received friends after the service in the fellowship hall.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Garden Lakes Baptist Church 2200 Redmond Circle Rome, GA. 30165 in the name of missionaries George and Elizabeth Faile, or the Garden Lakes Baptist Church Building Fund. At other hours the family may be reached at Mrs. Curry’s residence. Daniel’s Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
