

Bill Joe Marshall, age 94, peacefully passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025. He was born March 29, 1931 in Newark, Arkansas. Son of the late Leo and Ella Tate Marshall. Preceded in death by his brother Leo C. Marshall and sisters Kathleen Crowley and Janice Corum. Survived by his wife of 73 years, Sara Davis Marshall. Children: Richard Alan Marshall (Vivian) and Carole Marshall Gooch (Bill). Grandchildren: Ann Marie House (Mike), Jamie Youngblood (Keith), William Marshall (Jennifer Marshall-Warner), Angie Harvey (Ryan), Christy Cooper (Mitch), Leah Perkins (Jim).
Great- Grandchildren: LeAnna Wood (Brandon), Jackson House (Kenslee Osborne), Jefferson House, Ella Kate House, Parker Youngblood, Tanner Harvey, Caity Marshall-Warner, Bo Cooper, Anderson Marshall, Callie Cooper, Madeline Marshall. Great-Great Grandchild: Anna Leigh Tibbets; and his sister, Barbara Segrest.
Bill served in the U.S.Navy Seabees from 1948 to 1952 including the Korean War where he gained construction skills building airplane runways and housing for military personnel. After leaving the Seabees, he attended Southern Tech and later entered the insurance field. During those years, he taught Life Underwriter’s training for 35 years. He retired from American General after 36 years.
He and Sara enjoyed traveling, visiting 19 countries and all of our 50 states. His love and commitment to family lead him to spend 30+ years researching his family genealogy. He published two books on his maternal and paternal families’ history from 1585 in England to the mid 1700’s when they traveled to America. Often he would say “You can pick your friends but not your family!” And then he would tell a story that he had learned about his family through his research.
He attended Garden Lakes Baptist Church for many years and served on the building and finance committees.
The family would like to express great appreciation to Brookdale Assisted Living, Interim Healthcare, and Transitions Hospice for the loving attention and care they shared with Bill and the family.
Celebration of life will be held at Daniel’s Funeral Home on December 23. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard presenting military honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service at 2:00
