

Mrs. Johnson was born in Floyd County, August 11, 1934, daughter of the late Parks Primm Locklear and Barry Wilkins Locklear Green. She was graduated from Rome High School in 1952.
Mrs. Johnson was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Rome, having played in the handbell choir for more than 20 years. She served in numerous leadership roles at First Baptist including the Committee on Committees, the Homebound Ministry, the First Responders Committee and the Extended Family Committee. She was a member of the New Women’s Sunday School Class for many years.
After raising her children, Mrs. Johnson began working at Darlington School and finished her nearly ten years’ time there as Assistant Director of Admissions. She continued to meet periodically as a member of the Darlington Darlings. Mrs. Johnson was an active member and officer in the Four Seasons Garden club for many years. In recent years, she became a proud member and officer of the P.E.O. Chapter E Sisterhood.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, J. Glenn Johnson, and a granddaughter, Sarah Grace Broetzmann. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Johnson Higbie (Jon, Jr.), of Tyrone, Georgia, and Jennifer Johnson Broetzmann (Scott), of Alexandria, Virginia; five grandchildren, Jon Allen Higbie, III (Cole), William Johnson Higbie, Ellen Carole Broetzmann, Elizabeth Morgan Broetzmann and Benjamin Scott Broetzmann. Also surviving her are a nephew J. Dennis Bramblett (Joan) and a niece, Paula Bramblett Freeman, and their children and grandchildren.
The family received friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home, Rome, from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday. In addition, the family also received at the First Baptist Church from 10 – 10:45 a.m. on Monday prior to the memorial service which began at 11 a.m. Drs. P. Joel Snider, Hugh C. Peacock and Floyd F. Roebuck officiated. Honorary pallbearers were William M. Byars, Sr., T. Elwood Hunt, John P. Hine, Sr., and J. Byron Reeves.
