
Edith Brewer Meadows, 85, of Horizon Bay, 180 Woodrow Wilson Way, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, September 22, 2011, at a local hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Meadows was born in Talladega, AL, on December 10, 1925, the daughter of the late Semmie Brewer and Maebele Buford Brewer, but spent most of her life in Rome. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Meadows, in 2005, her twin sister, Eva Taylor, sisters, Eloise and Lois Brewer, a brother, Wallace Brewer and a nephew, Mark Brewer.
Mrs. Meadows worked in banking for 50 years, and retired from Home Federal Savings and Loan as a vice-president. She was a talented pianist and organist at Kingston Baptist Church for many years and was most recently a member of the First Baptist Church of Rome. She loved to travel, both internationally and in the United States.
Survivors include one daughter, Wendy Meadows Garrard, Ann Arbor, MI; one grandson, Brent Garrard, and his wife, Miriah, Owensboro, KY; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Mallory Garrard, Owensboro; one brother, Dennis Brewer, and his wife, Martha, Gaylesville, AL; a brother-in-law, Sanford Taylor, Rome; and two nephews, Steve and Matthew Brewer, Gaylesville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 25, 2011, at 4 p.m. at the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with Dr. Joel Snider and the Rev. Bill Bigger officiating.
The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Sunday, September 25, 2011, from 3 until 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church, Children’s Music Ministry, P. O. Box 1189, Rome , GA 30162-1189 .
