
Mrs. Jean Tarwater Glover, age 90, of Rome, GA, went home to Glory on October 3, 2016 following a brief illness. Jean was married to the late Elbert Earle Glover Jr of Rome. She was the daughter of the late Roy E. Tarwater and Susie Mae Harrel of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Jean is survived by two sisters; Frances T. Johns and Edith T Richardson of Murfreesboro, and one brother Roy E. Tarwater Jr. of Huntingdon, Tennessee.
Mrs. Glover had three children; Glenn Earle Glover of Wilmington, North Carolina, Linda Gay Glover and Gregory Roy Glover and his wife Jenni of Rome, GA. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Jeff Glover of Rome, Casey Glover of Surf City, North Carolina, Phillip Glover of Atlanta and Matthew Glover of Jackson, Mississippi and one great grandson Wilson of Surf City, North Carolina. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Glover and Earle were married July 3, 1946 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where she was born and raised. They soon moved to Chattanooga where Earle worked at DuPont and all three children came along. The family moved to Rome in 1960 where Earle worked and soon became the owner of Cherokee Supply Company. Mrs. Glover was a housewife, mother, and concerned Christian citizen. She was extremely active in many spiritual as well as political activities in the Rome area. A brief list of some activities included; den mother for scouts, Sunday school teacher, Youth for Christ leader, Gideon Auxiliary member, prayer and Christian study group leader, editor of the Rome Christian Newspaper, journalist…the list goes on. She was a long standing member of Calvary Baptist Church, The Republican party, and was an active member of Gideon’s International for over 59 years.
A visitation for Mrs. Glover will be held on Thursday evening October 6, 2016 at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 5 until 7 pm. Services will be conducted Friday October 7, 2016 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Graves officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd Memorial Gardens in Rome on Hwy 411.
Those serving as pallbearers are; Jeff Glover, Phillip Glover, Matthew Glover, and representatives from Calvary Baptist Church and the Gideon’s International.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to be made to; Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 281 Lindale, GA. 30147.
