

Mr. Conway was born in Floyd Co., on November 14, 1922, the son of the late P. B. Conway and Myrtle Floyd Conway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mather, Winston and Buford Conway.
Mr. Conway was employed with Owens Hardware and Sporting Goods for many years and after retirement was associated with Daniel’s Funeral Home for several years. He was a graduate of Berry High School in 1940 and enlisted with the U. S. Air Force in January, 1941. He served on Air Force Crews in the Caribbean and in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He was a member and deacon at West Rome Baptist Church and a member and past master of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge No. 66 F & AM.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Simmons Conway, to whom he was married June 14, 1947; one son, Dennis (Leana) Conway, Canton; one daughter, Karen (Mark) Morgan, Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Kristin and Katie Conway, and Meredith and Jonathan Morgan; one brother, Edwin Conway, Jackson, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Skelton and the Rev. Jarrod Roberts officiating. Interment will be in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post No. 5 of the American Legion in charge of military rites and the Cherokee Masonic Lodge providing committal rites.
Pallbearers will be John Morgan, Billy Smith, Richard Conway, Randy Conway, Phil Holbrooks, Jimmy Ellison, C. L. Tate and Jerry Stubbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Tracy, Joe Akren, Hugh Duncan, Mike Wade, Larry Adams and John Knowles.
The family received friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m.
