

He was born on March 12, 1941, and lived a life marked by a deep love for Jesus Christ and for his family. Jim faithfully served as a Methodist pastor for over 50 years, dedicating his life to ministry, shepherding others, and sharing the hope of the Gospel. His steady faith, gentle spirit, and servant’s heart leaves a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Toney and Dorothy Turrentine; and his granddaughter, Caitlin Parker Turrentine, daughter of Steve and La Donna Turrentine.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Shaw Turrentine; his daughter, Lyn Turrentine Davis and her husband Ricky Davis; and his son, Steven Turrentine and his wife La Donna Turrentine.
He also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Rachael Turrentine Lansdell and her husband Luke Lansdell, along with their children Elijah and John Luke; Dow Turrentine and his wife Emily Turrentine, along with their children Tate and Maizie; Brianne Davis Kellett and her husband Alexander Kellett; AnnaGrace Turrentine Harper and her husband Zachary Harper; Natalie Davis Akins and her husband Christopher Akins; and Ethan Davis.
He will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and a man whose life reflected the love and grace of Christ. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the family he so dearly loved.
Funeral services will be held to celebrate Jim’s life on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 10:00 am until the service time. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Garden.
