Jeffrey M. Robinson

Wednesday, November 25, 2009, Dr. Jeffrey M. Robinson, age 52, died peacefully at his home in Rome, GA. He had fought a brave and courageous fight against cancer for five years and will be missed by his family, colleagues, and many friends, but will be missed most greatly by his wife, Kimsey and the beloved pets. Jeff was born in Denver, Colorado, attended elementary school in Los Gatos, CA, and later graduated from Los Altos High School in Los Alto, CA. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1978 and was 5th in his class at the Medical College of Virginia. After completing his residency and fellowship in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia and University of North Carolina, in 1988 Jeff claimed Rome as his home and entered the private practice of radiology with Rome Radiology group. Jeff's first lover growing up in California was tennis and he had many accolades. He was California State Champion for 12 year olds in 1967, California State Champion for 18 year olds in 1975 and was on the Junior Davis Cup Team in 1975. In 1976 and 1977 he was both SEC singles champion and All American Tennis singles at the University of Alabama, and is the only player to hold this record at his beloved Crimson Tide. Jeff was on the ATP Pro circuit for 1 year before finally making the decision that his career would be in medicine. In later years, Jeff found anew passion in golf, enabling him to form new and long lasting friendships, and especially his yearly "Cronies", a gathering of his friends from medical school days for a "friendly game of golf."Jeff is survived by his wife, Kimsey Brown Robinson, Rome, GA ; mother, Hanna Bjorkman Robinson; father and step-mother, Dr. Ralph and Linda Robinson; sister, Kim Robinson Hyde; nephew, Colby Miles Robinson Hyde; and step-sister, Kim Adams Fanter, all of Boise, Idaho. Also included are step-sister, Kristen Adams Tedford of Los Gatos, CA; step-brother, Scott Adams of Remington, VA; mother and father-in-law, Fay and Gerald Clark, of Rome, GA; sister-in-law, Jennifer Brown, of Atlanta; and mother and father-in-law, Albert and Sandra Brown, of Union Point, GA.Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stuart Bass, Scottsdale,AZ; Dr. Bob Dunker, Virginia Beach, VA; Dr. Brian Galinat, Wilmington, DE; Dr. Ron Barsanti, Harrisburg, Pa; Jon Lewis, Dr. Terry Woods, Dr. Ed Brewster, Dr. Dan Hanks, Dr. Bill Harbin, Dr. Jack Edgens, Dr. Jim Moseley; Dr. Joe Burch, Dr. Zack Martin, Dr. Max Hulsey, and Dr. Allan Stephenson, all of Rome Radiology, Rome, GA.Services for Dr. Robinson will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009, 2:00 P.M. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Rome, GA. Rector Michael Owens, of Transfiguration Episcopal Church, where Jeff is a member, will celebrate the Holy Eucharist.
