

Jerry was born in Floyd County on October 3, 1946 to the parents of the late John Carl Pinson and Margaret Wiggins Pinson, who survives. He was a graduate of North Georgia College and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam Conflict and as the Finance Officer and Auditor for the US Army in Europe while stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. After retirement he continued to serve the US Army as a civilian with responsibilities as the Deputy Program Manager and Budget Analyst in Germany.
He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
In addition to his mother, Margaret W. Pinson, he is survived by his daughters, Melissa Rasmussen, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Julie (Craig) Colby Furneisen, Virginia; two brothers, Bill (Linda) Pinson and Jim (Ann) Pinson, Rome; grandchildren Daniel, Liam and Lana Rasmussen, Alex and Aaron Colby, Rocky and Ryker Furneisen and his former wife, Kathy Mount Pinson, South Bend Washington.
A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a later date with interment at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA with full graveside military rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Avenue Baptist Church Second Century Campaign. Family members may be contacted at their respective homes.
