
Mr. Locklear was born in Floyd County on March 9, 1929, son of the late John William Locklear and Grethel Eugenia Nix Locklear. He was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Clinton Locklear. Mr. Locklear attended Model High School in Shannon, GA, and West Georgia College in Carrollton. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Locklear started his career in 1962, at Fairbanks Company in Rome. On January 16, 1967, a new department at the Fairbanks Company, known as the Methods and Standards Department was established and Mr. Locklear was made manager of this department. He held this position along with other administrative responsibilities until his retirement. Mr. Locklear was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rome and the O.M. Cates Sunday School Class.
Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Locklear of Rome; a daughter, Jennifer Leigh Locklear Gillon and her husband, Chris of Birmingham, AL; and a granddaughter, Adelyn Connor Gillon, also of Birmingham, AL.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November, 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church of Rome. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as honorary pallbearers, Claborn Bradfield, Joe Aaron, Robbie Summerall, Ed Cescutti, John Self and Ed Palmer. Also serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of the O.M. Cates Sunday School Class.
