
Mrs. Cox was born in Barnesville, GA, on February 17, 1920, the only child of the late John Hollis Leonard and Maude Cagle Leonard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cicero Albert Cox, and by a son, John Albert Cox, Sr.
Mrs. Cox was a graduate of Fulton High School and the Atlanta Conservatory of Music and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vinings.
Survivors include one daughter, Ladye Jane Payne, and her husband, Bobby, Rome; one son, Charles Michael “Mickey” Cox, and his wife, Anne, Atlanta; three grandchildren, John Albert Cox, Jr., and his wife, Shea, Carrollton, Michael Jason Cox, and his wife, Abby, Atlanta, and Anna Muguet Cox, Boston, Mass.; and one great grandson, John Albert “Jack” Cox, Carrollton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the graveside in the Greenwood Cemetery, Cedartown, with the Rev. Tom Wood officiating.
The family will be at the Payne home, 9 Overhill Rd., at other times.
