

She is survived by her sister, Willa Everett Mathis, her son, Everett Wigley, her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Wigley, her son-in-law, Michael Barnes, her grandson, Wesley Barnes, her granddaughter, Rachel Barnes, her nieces, Jennifer Mathis DesLattes & Lisa Mathis Caldwell and her great-grandson, Rowan Barnes.
Her husband, Joseph “Joe” Wigley, her daughter, Julie Wigley Barnes, her mother, Bertha Everett and her father, Willie “Bill” Everett preceded her.
Leona grew up in Rome attending Women’s Rome High School. She met and married Joe in Rome after he returned from his World War II Naval service.
In 1951, Joe and Leona moved to Marietta, GA where Joe worked a 38 year Lockheed Georgia Company career and Leona became a house wife raising the children. She was married to Joe for 68 years.
She loved planting flowers in her yard and was an officer in the Marietta Ladies’ Garden Club for a number of years. She loved decorating and taking care of her Etowah Drive home including her vast assortment of women’s clothing & shoes.
She was an avid left-handed women’s league Bowler. She enjoyed traveling with her bowling team and in her later years, after Joe’s retirement, enjoyed traveling with him on numerous motor coach tour trips throughout the USA.
She also loved spending time camping in her travel trailer and fishing out of her pontoon boat at the Lockheed-owned Lake Lanier facility, Long Hollow.
She was a member of the Marietta Shady Grove Baptist Church since the early 1960’s.
